REc-spect

To ensure we have an open, honest, and transparent culture that encourages respect and speaking up when something isn't right, we’ve established an anonymous and confidential reporting system.

It can be used to report anything you feel requires investigation, eg. bullying or harassment, unethical behaviour, or a safety concern. Anyone, anytime, can jump in and make a report.

The report will be handled by an independent organisation, outside of Burning Seed, and your details will be kept confidential. Information that identifies you will not be disclosed unless you wish to be identified.

We want to make sure there are lots of ways for participants at our events, our volunteer crew and contractors to raise problems and concerns without fear of repercussion and we hope this reporting tool aids in that goal.

You can make a report by

How it works

  1. You make a report using one of the methods outlined above

  2. Your report comes in via the coreintegrity system to the appropriate reviewer

  3. The report is assessed by the reviewer and appropriate action commenced.  This could include the reviewer coming back to you to ask additional clarification questions.

Additional resources (such as investigators, forensic accountants or counsellors) will be appointed as necessary.

Criminal matters will be reported to the appropriate authorities.  Some criminal matters will also need to be managed and investigated by the reviewer (or others as appointed), in conjunction and consultation with the appropriate authorities.

  1. The reviewers will manage all aspects related to the RECSPECT report, including all contact and correspondence with stakeholders.

  2. The reviewers will make recommendations to the REC Board, or others as appropriate, based on the findings of any investigation into each whistleblower report.

The reviewers will provide regular reports to the REC Board on the operation of the RECSPECT hotline.  These reports will be statistically based and will not identify any individual reports or participants.  The reviewers will also look at the reports more wholistically to identify any trends or systemic issues, making recommendations for actions to remove or minimise the risk of the incident(s) that led to the report occurring again.
