Would you like to take a survey?

Would you like to take a survey?

Ok, we’re pretty excited for this one – it’s the questionnaire for the restructure process!

The questionnaire contains several questions (obviously) that will be key to how the new entity operates. These are relevant to the actual legal structure that we adopt, as well as what the new constitution will contain. It’s important stuff.

This questionnaire has been developed based on the feedback we have received to date. It has gone through a refinement and testing process over several weeks.

So, please, take 10 – 15 minutes to have your say. CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE SURVEY.

The questionnaire will stay open until 15 May.

We released some background information to support your reflections including;

  • A spreadsheet that highlights the differences between each of the legal models we are considering;
  • A research paper that discusses how other regional burns are structured;
  • A PDF that provides a bit of background and history on the creation of the Burning Seed Event and the corporate structure of Red Earth City

More information on the process and background can be found on our Future of Seed Page.

If you would like to be kept up to date on future consultations, town halls and receive details on the final report, please sign up to our Future of Seed Email List here. Any queries, comments or concerns? please email futureofseed@burningseed.com.

Lastly, we have a few in person consultations happening in Newcastle April 22nd, Matong/Riverina on May 6th, and online for folks in other regions early May (for more details on the online session email futureofseed@burningseed.com).

Burner Profiles are almost here!

Tickets for Burning Seed 2018 - Ancient Future are so close you can almost touch them, but first it’s time to reach into your past and revisit your Burner Profile.

We introduced Burner Profiles in 2016 for a lot of great reasons including better understanding our participants through basic demographic information, reducing instances of scalping and ensuring that our community understands the 10 Principles that are the foundation of any burn. Thanks to some great planning and your support they have been super successful in achieving all these things, and with tickets around the corner it’s time to make sure that your Burner Profile is up to date.

On Monday 16th April at 7pm AEST Burner Profiles will go live for 2018 and you’ll be able to head to the Quicket event page, login to your account and review your profile to ensure everything is as it should be. Maybe you’ve gone to a few more burns? Acquired a new paddock name? Moved to the other side of the globe? All this information and more can be updated in your Burner Profile so that you’re ready to explore Ancient Future. If you haven’t yet created a profile then this is your opportunity. Don’t be scared. Many wise old adventurers have trodden this path before you. Every participant must either create or update their Burner Profile before buying a ticket to Burning Seed 2018. The one exception to this is kids under the age of 16.

This first step along the path to Ancient Future can be found at http://qkt.io/seed18. If you’ve previously created a Burner Profile then you’ll need to remember your Quicket login details. They will either be your email address and a password, or you may have used Facebook to create an account. Either way if you’ve forgotten your password you’ll be able to perform a reset on the Quicket site.

We will be announcing all the details about Burning Seed tickets, including the date you can get your excited little hands on them in the coming weeks. Make sure to keep your eye on the Burning Seed Facebook Page for all the latest information.

So in summary:

  • Burner Profiles go live at 7pm AEST on Monday 16th April
  • Everyone (except kids) needs to create or review their profile before they can buy a ticket for Burning Seed
  • If you need to reset your Quicket password you do this directly with Quicket
  • Further details on when tickets will be available is coming soon

Have a question about Burner Profiles? Don’t hesitate to email ticketing@burningseed.com

Winner of the Burning Seed Theme Design

After receiving a number of amazing submissions and having a very difficult decision to make, we are happy to announce that the winning theme design for Burning Seed 2018: Ancient Future goes to Sarah Barber. Sarah's design work was used for both Deep Space 2016 and Deeper Space 2017 making Ancient Future 2018 a nice little hat trick!

The winner each year is chosen by Burning Seed Team Leads and Facilitators. To make it fair, they don't know who made the submissions and are simply given the posters to vote on.

Here are Sarah's words about her inspiration for this years design:

"The concept behind this shows various elements montaged together relating to ancient future. The focal point is a Scarab beetle which represents transformation, renewal & creation in Egyptian mythology. The Circle encompassing it is is of Mars which was the most commonly worshipped god among roman ancestors and also a possible future colony for humanity. I've tried to capture the idea further by juxtaposing ancient ruins alongside clean modern shapes (yet ironically also a pyramid) filled with modern cities with an overarching steampunk feel. In the background is a dissected watch which could be looked at as a way to time travel or perhaps we have broken time which is how we ended up in this little sanctuary we call 'Home'. In the ancient future only the weird will survive. To boldly go where we have gone before. Where lizard gods may roam the earth and time stands still - for on the paddock we are neither in the past nor future but the present Ancient Future."

What happens now?

Our talented design team will now work with Sarah to translate this design across all of the things! You'll soon be seeing Sarah's design on the website and Facebook pages and of course on our wristbands and publications for Burning Seed 2018. In the meantime, check out Sarah's awesome design below.

Applications for build and pack down crew now open

We absolutely love all the wonderful community members who put their particiPANTS on to crew for Burning Seed each year during the event. But we ESPECIALLY love those who dedicate up to a month of their time to build and pack down Red Earth City. These pre and post event crews are the backbone of Burning Seed - the ones who build the infrastructure, the structures we burn, feed the crew and pack it all down after the party.

One of the most rewarding ways to get involved with the burn is to join a pre/post event crew. Living and working out in the forest together creates lifelong bonds, as well as the opportunity learn new skills from each other and watch Red Earth City rise and then disappear back into the dust - all the while sharing stories and warm VB by the Stockade campfire.

Handy with a star picket? Got experience as a chippy, plumber, electrician, all round useful guy or gal? A dab hand at putting a marquee up the right way around? We need all sorts of people with a range of skills and experience.

Does this sound like you? If so we would love to hear from you. Applications are now open for the following teams:

  • Department of Planning & Infrastructure (DPI)
  • Effigy & Temple Build Crews
  • Kitchen
  • Pack Down
  • Leave no Trace

Check out the website to view the roles and position descriptions. To apply to join one of these teams, follow this link to fill out the application form. Applications for general community crews will open when tickets go on sale.

We also still have a bunch of critical year-round vacancies to fill as soon as possible - have a look through the roles on the website to see if anything tickles your fancy! Your friendly Crew Wranglers are always here to answer any questions at jointhecrew@burningseed.com
