Traffic Rovers Ahoy! We need you for traffic & placement

There's a brand new team on the Paddock this year, and they need some helping hands! You can be part of the first team (and create the first memories) for Traffic Rovers - read on to learn more.

So what does a traffic rover do?

Traffic Rovers are all about making sure traffic flows smoothly and safely, while helping people find the best camping spots. They're also about making sure people don't camp where they're not supposed to.

What are the perks?
It's a brilliant team to be part of.  Being a pilot team, the shift requirements will be minimal - just one or two shifts at 3-4 hours max.  You get a license to rove and will meet heaps of fascinating people as they enter the event, while helping participants at the beginning of their Seed journey. You'll also get a radio and a vest and will look all official  😉

It's a great way to contribute to the event without making a huge investment.  Just rock-up, help a few people out, have some good chats and you're done. You also get early entry!

Red Earth Rangers need you!

There are a number of roles that available for those who want to be part of the Ranger Team for 2017. One of the most beautiful experiences as a ranger is the genuine gratitude that is received from participants who find themselves in need of help.

Rangers?

The Red Earth City Rangers are our on-the-ground team of experienced Burners who roam the site making sure that all is well. Rangers are usually the first to attend to an emergency on site, and work in close collaboration with the Medical, Fire Safety and Security teams. They also help manage safety during key Seed events like the Effigy and Temple burns, so a sharp focus, cool head and the ability to respond appropriately to a developing situation is required.

Ranger operations run for the duration of the event and operate 24-hours. No experience is necessary and full training will be provided for first timers.

Rangers must be aged 18 and over.

An inspirational poem about Rangers written by our crew!

The Paddock is a place for all to play,
Be a Ranger with us to help guide the way.
When things fall apart or direction’s not clear,
Rangers, your friends, will always be near.

If you are drunk or if you are sober,
A ranger will guide you to safety you know sir!
But they need volunteers - so put your hand up,
The roles are filled from the community’s cup.

What do I get in return, because you know, default world stuff

Perks! For your dedication to the cause, you will receive a plethora of thanks including incentives such as: free training in Sydney, Canberra or Melbourne, early entry, and sexy shwag bling!

Every one of you that steps forward lightens the load for the entire Ranger community and makes our event safer and more fun for everyone!

Which roles are available and how do I sign up?

There are various leadership roles and as well regular ranger roles available.  You’ll find them listed under the ‘Critical Vacancies 2017’ and the ‘Community Crew Roles’ headings here: http://burningseed.com/participate/communitycrew/

If you would like to sign up, please use the ‘Register Here’ button at the top of the community crew page (at the link above). We look forward to hearing from you!

Ticketing Team Update

Many of the Burning Seed teams are pretty visible once you arrive on site for the Burn. It could be the entertaining and welcoming fluffers, the sarcastic but efficient Gate Keepers, the always happy to see you Greeters, or the ever present Rangers. However, one team has finished their work by the time gates open, and that’s our super hard working Ticketing team.

The small team of two start preparing months before tickets go on sale, working with our ticketing provider Quicket to ensure that the whole ticketing process goes smoothly and that as many people as possible get a ticket to one of the largest regional burns outside of the US. This year they’ve had the extra responsibility of refunding thousands of tickets to last year’s cancelled event, something that definitely wasn’t in the job description! Almost all tickets have now been refunded and the Ticketing team have made multiple attempts to reach out to the remaining few. If you haven’t received your refund then please email ticketing@burningseed.com

How many tickets have been sold?

Lots! Tickets are still on sale and the final tally will be made public in the annual Afterburn report. There are still some tickets left but don’t delay as they will most definitely sell out. For the last couple of events there have been many disappointed people who missed out on a ticket as they waited too long, don’t let that be you! Head to http://qkt.io/seed17 to secure your ticket now.

Kids tickets, however, don’t sell out as they aren’t part of our population cap. This is the same for the new category of Youth tickets. Introducing this type of ticket has allowed Burning Seed to reduce the price for our 16 and 17 year old Burners but they still need to attend with a parent or legal guardian. Kids and Youth tickets are sold online just like adult tickets.

Do I need to transfer my ticket if I can’t attend?

Yes, if it turns out you can’t attend and have a friend or family member that you want to transfer your ticket to then you must process this through the Quicket ticket transfer system. The name on the ticket must match the attendees photo ID when they arrive at gate otherwise they will be turned away. This helps stop scalping and also increases the security of the event as we know exactly who is attending and that they have gone through the process of creating a Burner Profile and learning about the 10 Principles. If you’d like to transfer your ticket then check out this super helpful FAQ post. The person you’re transferring to will need to create a Burner Profile before you are able to transfer your ticket to them.

I want to sell my ticket

This year we’re super excited to offer a Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP) which will allow people to sell and buy unwanted tickets without having to worry about scalping and fraud. The full details will be announced after the event sells out but essentially this works the same as other STEP programs such as the one used by Burning Man.

If you have a ticket you can no longer use, and don’t have any friends or family who want it, then you’ll be able to register this in STEP through our ticketing provider Quicket. People who are looking for a ticket will be able to add themselves to a waiting list and as tickets become available they’ll be notified and given 24 hours to complete the purchase. The buyer and seller don’t need to worry about exchanging banking details or transferring tickets, this is all handled automatically and reduces any chance of someone being ripped off.

If you have a ticket you’re looking to sell then keep an eye on the official Burning Seed Facebook Page for more details when the program is officially launched.

Kitchen Crew Looking for a 2iC

Do you know your way around the kitchen? Do you want to be a part of the pre-event action? Do you feel like spending extended time in heaven (AKA the paddock)? This is an exciting opportunity for a 2iC to join the Yum Yums Crew in the Stockade Kitchen. The Yum Yums prepare meals add fuel to the fire of the souls who work tirelessly to build the Effigy, Temple, and prepare the site. Don’t worry though, they all do their own dishes!

What is involved?

This is a bigger time commitment than most roles as you will need to be on site some weeks before the event, but wouldn't that be amazing? For your hard work and dedication, you will rewarded with 3 meals a day, snacks and a tea/coffee station, one prepared meal per day during the event and access to kitchen food stores 24/7. Not to mention HOT SHOWERS and camping with an awesome crew.

If you can commit to 4.5 weeks to living the burn, we’d love to hear from you. Register your interest for Kitchen at http://burningseed.com/participate/communitycrew/

The loo crew needs you!

Does a bear shit in the woods? Not at Burning Seed!

The Sanitation Services team is seeking new recruits for 2017 - burners who aren’t afraid to get down and dirty (not literally, we’ll be keeping you clean under the guidance of our Squeaky Queen!) and help deal with our toilets and other on site waste in a hygienic and environmentally friendly way.

To help us Leave No Trace we have portaloo toilets on site which are emptied twice a day by an external service provider. Our dangerous human burner waste gets turned into awesome renewable energy as biogas, and a safely sterilised fertiliser called biosolids which is used by farmers all over the world. Sometimes science and technology are amazing and poo is kind of cool.

The Sanitation Crew replenishes toilet paper and hand sanitiser in the portaloos, helps oversee the toilet pump outs safely in a sanitary manner keeping burners away from that shenanigan, generally makes sure the loo situation is not a hazard to human health (important!), and also deals with the waste from the different burns on site and other crew rubbish sources to help keep the Leave No Trace side of Burning Seed left nice and traceless.

Does this sound like you? Each loo crew member will need to do a 4 hour shift - you can do more if you’re gung ho. You’ll need to be onsite by Tuesday 26th September so that you can be part of our crew induction at 9am on Wednesday 27th September. You’ll need to wear covered shoes but you’ll be given all the personal protective gear you need otherwise (disposable aprons, gloves, garbage bags, hand sanitiser). And for being part of our crew you'll get early entry, showers & meals at the Stockade and also loads of kudos!

For more info on what it takes to be part of the number 1 and number 2 team on the paddock, check out the Sanitation Crew FAQ. For further details on the role and what it involves, contact the lovely Lara Warren at sanitation@burningseed.com.

To step up on the throne and sign yourself up to join the team, fill in the Burning Seed crew registration survey and select the option “Sanitation Services”.
